I suggest the University of Illinois at Chicago. It's a public university and top-notch; I would think you would get a solid and affordable education there.
I doubt you would want to attend Northwestern or University of Chicago is you plan to be a high school teacher.
You might also want to look into DePaul and Loyola, although those are significantly more expensive than UIC. (I can't speak for DePaul, but I attend Loyola, and I have found them to be very generous with financial aid packages. At my former university, I didn't even qualify for aid.)
Do you plan to do a double-major so you can specialize in a particular subject? You might want to take that into account when deciding on a university.

The best universities in the Chicago area are University of Chicago and Northwestern. Both are elite universities. I believe that U of C does not have a school of education though.
Of the other schools in the Chicago area, University of Illinois at Chicago may be your best bet. It has an education school, and is a reasonably good public university.

it depends what subject you want to teach and what type of school you are looking for.
Univ of Chicago is a top notch school; but very very intellectual and "heady" Not my first choice. but hey that's just me.
Check out Northwestern - again, top notch but a different attitude and "feel"
