You means if u want to take a broadband connection then u have must telephone connection right
telephone connection is must required if u want to use bsnl or mtnl's broadband connection if u want to use sify broadband then u need only the modem of sify

If you are applying for BSNL or MTNL the phone connection is a must.
But the other private service providers give connections without a phone at a higher rate.
Hathway and sify are some of the providers you can check with.

Depending on where you live this may be true. Broadband can be delivered over DSL (phone line), cable (your traditional cable company), satellite, or fiber. If you live in a more rural area with less options, you may find that the only broadband provider is your phone company. I have some coworkers that don't even have that though.

No it is not required for a broad band connection telephone if it is BSNL or MTNL then you require a telephone connection if its SATYAM or and TATA or AIRTEL you dont require any connection of telephone

if u have a dial up connection and the phone is used the internet will be cut if u have broadband like dsl it wont cut unless there is something wrong with the wires (not put correctly)
