There is a distinct difference between "scary" and "shocking." Shocking is usually very gory. Scary can best be achieved with situation, drama, and mystery.The original movie of "The Haunting of Hill House" was truly scary.

I did, it should have been rated GO for GROSS-OUT. No scare, just shock value. Too bad Siskel and Ebert can't still give their rating system.
