I'm watching a show about how great gastric bypass surgery is and what a help it is to lose weight.
In some cases, I'm sure it does work wonders but because I've seen firsthand the bad effects of it and what it did to a family member, it makes me want to scream and write a nasty letter or something.

i suppose the flip side to that is there will be a show on the horror stories of it too
they should give you both sides on 1 show, so people can make an informed decision, But i see your point, 1 of the reasons i dont really watch tv much

Personal experience is everything to people, even if it's not exactly their personal experience. Just through someone they knew who had it happen to them or someone close to them.
But yes, I'd say that everyone has something another can rave about that makes them angry or hurt.
Mine would have to be eating disorders. So many people are so proud of themselves for not eating (very sick people) and I watched it almost kill my older sister when we were younger.

I agree with you. I sometimes hate it when people say things like that. Sometimes people love talking about their personal experiences too much. For example, if there is too much money involved, it won't do any good for me. If they won the lottery, they better shut up as soon as they walk in with the cheque.

My brother-in-law died from the surgery, so it's not something I would recommend.....
