Yes, May-July 1863 .There was a siege at Vicksburg. There was fighting as far back as the fall of 1862 for Vicksburg.

and the Rebels surrendered Vicksburg the same day Lee withdrew in defeat from Gettysburg, 1100 miles to the east....a pretty big 4th of July for the Union!
