Have no spark even with new plug also have a wire that is not connected to anything. Can't find any place to connect it.

you need to find the Yard Machine website for a wiring diagram so you can reattach the wire.

Get the model number off the engine and go to "outdoordistributers" Follow the instructions and it will show you a diagram of the engine.
