should the NFL make the playoffs an 16 team match, it would get rid of the bye week that only hurts teams (ravens,chargers last year)and let more teams into the playoffs, plus more excitement

should they make it 16 teams, Personally I think they should keep it the way it is so bad teams like the giants with subpar records dont get in, i just wanna know everyones opinion

no, then it would be a waste like hockey where just about everyone gets in, and the regular season is meaningless. this way, you have to win to get in, as for the Ravens and Chargers, should have been better prepared, and not get full of themselves. The bye week is intended to allow the teams that win out in the regular season an added week off to nurse various injuries and to prepare(it is their reward for having the best record). Besides, adding 4 more teams would allow even more sub 8-8 teams to get in, and that is not what we want. The last playoffs was as exciting as it gets, Patriots and Colts? Patriots and Chargers? Eagles and Saints?

It won't happen and doesn't need to happen. When the divisions were realigned to the current setup, these scenarios about 10-6 and 11-5 teams missing the playoffs while a potential 8-8 division winner would get in were discussed at length between the GMs, owners and commissioner's office. The owners felt that there was no need to add more teams to the playoffs and that this was an acceptable risk. These last 2 years are an aberration and not the norm and we won't see this type of thing happen very often. Just a coincidence that it happened 2 years in a row.

Absolutely not. The NFL playoff system is perfect the way it is, because it makes every regular season game matter. The teams fight for those bye weeks to give them the advantage of being healthier. Anyone who says that it is a disadvantage is just looking for an excuse for an under-prepared team. Why punish a 14-2 team by making them play another game against a sub-.500 team that only got in because they needed another team in the playoffs?

Yes, they should go to 16 teams and eliminate the bye week for the 1&2 seeds. Every season there are teams missing the playoffs due to tiebreakers. The difference between the 12th and 16th best teams in the NFL is basically zilch.

The NFC / AFC are usually no more than a 6 team race... Rarely do you even see the 6th seeded guy make it anywhere
and you think an 8th seed will?
Do you really think a team like the Packers or Giants deserved a playoff spot last year?

I think the NFL should add 2 playoff teams because sometimes a good 10 wins and 6 losses team doesn't get in because they are in a tough division while worse teams get in because they are in a weak division.

no way. there have already been 8-8 teams in the playoffs. adding more would allow teams with losing records into the playoffs. if anything there should be less teams. baseball has the right idea.

Why ruin the regular season? Why don't we just set up all 32 teams in a bracket picked randomnly and let every team have a chance at the Championship!
