The best way to get around is the same one the locals use...the Tube. The Underground or as they call it the Tube (we call it a subway), it the quickest and easiest way to get around the city. As a visitor, do not buy one way tickets. Buy an unlimited pass for the number of days you will be there (it's called an "Oyster" card). Cabs are good but not very quick as most of London is gridlocked for most of the day.

I won't get into what to see as there is so much. I just came back two weeks ago and it was wonderful. Take a guided bus tour (big bus or the London bus company), your first day. It's a great way to get the lay of the land.

I would recommend buying an Oyster card - low-rate card for use on the Tube (subway) and Buses and use it for all your travel. The Tube is good because you know when you've arrived at the right stop but the bus is good too as you see the sights while you travel.

There's so much to see in London it will depend so much on what you're interested in.

I went to see Othello at Shakespeare's Globe last weekend and it was great (although the Stewards are just a little bit heavy-handed).

Have a great trip.
