It's too windy to drive.
I swear, that was a real excuse I heard from a server in Las Vegas. It's not like there was a freakin' tornado out there! LOL

One day a coworker and I both called saying we'd be late due to a flat tire. We were working second shift, and this was August in Alabama (read: damn hot).
Anyways, we both show up about half an hour late. I am black from the elbows down, and my clothes are dirty and drenched in sweat (in other words, I looked like someone who had changed a tire on the side of the road in Alabama in August.) He was fresh as a daisy.
One of us was reprimanded. Not for being late. For lying.

no that excuse is actually believable - (well at least to me ... Ive only been late to work 3 times in my LIFE ... and all 3 times it was REALLY because my alarm didn't go off - and if it did i must not have heard it ) ...
but to answer your question ...
The lamest i heard was " My sisters car broke down so i have to go pick her up " it wouldn't have been that bad but she came in 3 hours late! like really, how long would it take to pick her up and take her home?

This is true....
I was late for work because someone stole the gas cap off my car and I had to stop and buy a new one..
The time change is also a good one "I for got to change the clocks"

I had an employee who called off 'cuz her dad was in the hospital- he had a heart attack. An hour later he called asking for her. I informed him that she was at the hospital with him. Neither one of us were too happy with her. I fired her.

I once said that I completely forgot what day it was. But that was after I was on a 3 day weekend! They are stupid anyway and totally bought it!

My clock/watch is slow.
The car didn't start.
