If you didn't file a tax return, you need to contact the Social Security Administration, which will provide copies of Forms W-2 for retirement purposes at no charge and for other than retirement purposes for a fee.

Call 1–800–772–1213, or visit the SSA web site at www.ssa.gov for instructions on how to obtain wage information from the SSA.

If you did file an income tax return, then call 1–800–829–3676, or visit the IRS web site at www.irs.gov to obtain Form 4506, Request for Copy of Tax Return, or Form 4506-T (PDF), Request for Transcript of Tax Return, to order the information from the IRS.

You can order your 2001-2005 IRS issued W-2s from accuverify.com, and receive it in 1-2 business days.

You can call the IRS yourself to request the information and that's the easiest way to go about it Or you can hire a tax company to do this for you if you haven't filed your tax returns. You can just have them request the information for you.
