I have had a Kenmore washer about ten years old in storage for two years. When I put this back into use, is it likely to leak?

It's hard to say. About the only things that you could change right off the bat is the washers in the connecting hoses. These are just standard hose washers and are available at any hardware store or home center.

There should be a rubber washer the size of a dime at the end of the water hoses which connect to the hot and cold inlets and to your water pipe outlets. Check to make sure they are not brittle. The rubber washers should be pliable. If it was extremely hot where you had it stored then it is possible the drain hose could also be brittle; and the remaining water hose connects the water pump to the tank. Just turn the machine on it side and you will see it underneath. I image both the pump hose and drain hose will be OK. It is the two rubber hoses which connect the water supply to the machine which may cause a leak. Just hook it up and see if there are any leaks..

It depends where it was stored. Rodent's love to chew on hoses. If posible test it outside. Plug it in and turn the timer on at the fill position. Just fill with a garden hose directly into the tub. It will start to agitate when the water reaches the proper level. Run it manually from fill to pump out. Be sure to elevate the drain hose.

Examine the underside of the washer for any dry-rotted hoses or cracks in plastic parts. Check the water supply hoses and the discharge hose for cracks. You could run a garden hose to it outside with a short extention cord to test it.

It will likely stink badly when you wash clothes in it unless it was completely dried out before going in storage. Apparently, water can get trapped in places, and mildew. Bleach and vinegar can help with the smell but probably won't eliminate it entirely.
