My period is supposed to come on the 17th. Right now I'm having dull pains on both sides and at times it gets intense. I don't think I'm pregnant but there's always a chance. What is this? Could it be an infection with my ovaries? This happens every once in a while. I was recently tested for stds and I don't have any. What could it be?

well, my first suggestion would be to take an hpt. Second of all, it's not the 17th yet, and it has not passed either, so honestly i doubt ur pregnant, but hey, u never know. What i think it is is just that ur uterus is preparing to have ur period and its contracting ever so slightly to try to get rid of the endometrial lining that is building up. This happens to me all the time. A couple of days before i get my period, i have cramps, and that's one of the ways i know i will be getting a visit soon. Hec, i can even feel ovulation! I can literally feel something bursting or has burst and it's just weird... I am so sensitive to pain that i wonder what im going to do when it comes time for childbirth. lol! But stop guessing and estimating and do take a preg. test and rest ur mind.
GOOD LUCK!

I could just be cramps, signs of your period coming. It could be signs of something else, perhaps ovarian cysts. I myself have had many surgeries for ovarian cysts and I'm only 24. So, if you feel something is wrong, talk to your doctor and see if they can do an ultrasound on your ovaries. Chances are if you only get them once in awhile and right before your period, it probably only cramps.
