those who said zito. see i wouldn't really go and say he is a bust. i've seen all his starts and in all reality he's been very good in each but the last one. he GETS THE 2ND LEAST RUN SUPPORT IN ALL OF THE MAJORS..and has pitched twice at coors. he should in all reality be 7-0 with a mid 3 era..but hard luck and little run support speaks for itself. and he's a late starter get hot kinda guy.

that J.D drew answer is the best one so far..and followed by that schimt deal as well.

and people stick to PLAYERS WHO SWITCED TEAMS.

i was predicting from day one that howard would not come even close to last years numbers.

and i won't include weaver .BECAUSE ANY HALF DECENT BASEBALL FAN..knew or knows that weaver belongs on no major league team. so he was junk to begin with so this doesn't surprise me..nor do i think it surprised anyone really.

70 million for J.D. Drew doesn't look good at the moment but its to early to proclaim anyone a bust yet sheesh give them a chance..

In terms of cash vs. performance I would say it's LA Dogers Jason Schmidt so far. 8th highest paid player this year @ $ 15,703,946 but has only pitched 11 innings and has a 7.36 ERA. He's currently on the DL.

I don't know if JD drew really qualifies as a bust. He has only hit over 30 HR once, 100 RBI once and his lifetime Batting average is .285. He's not going to get better just because he's being paid more money. The Red Sox just overpaid for some really stupid reason (needed a left handed hitting outfilder with a gun?). His defence is definitley down this year but fenway isn't an easy field.

Jeff Weaver, 0-6. He has an ERA of 14.32.

In his six starts he only gave up less than 6 runs once.

He turned down a 2 year contract from the Cardinals for more money with Seattle for one year. He is making $8,325,000.

I would not say Soriano. He makes $10 million this year but just ended a 20 game hitting streak, and he has reached base in every game this year. He is currently hitting .313 with 4 HR, 6 SB, and 20 runs scored. While he may be currently ranked around 10th in center fielders, he is starting to heat up and rising in the rankings, and the center fielders he is ranked behind are those superstars like Beltran, Sizemore, Jones, Wells and Suzuki.

Weaver is doing bad but Soriano isnt playing up to his 136 Million Dollar Contract.

In Terms of Great Seasons last season Jermaine Dye has been a complete bust for the Sox so far and Adam LaRoche for the Pirates

I read the guidelines of the question and I know that it's referring to offseason acquisitions but I couldn't resist:

The biggest bust for 2007 so far... (drum role, please)

THE FREAKING TEXAS RANGERS - THE ENTIRE TEAM!
Dear God! I didn't expect them to jump out to a 10 game lead in the west but for crying-out-loud! Win a series! Beat the western division rivals more than once! PLEASE! This is the most disgusting start to a season I've seen in 20 years! I really thought this was the year we get back to the post-season. We've got the line-up, the defense, we finally got a pitching staff that looks like a pitching staff and we can't even get out of the f***ing starting gate! These guys look like a bunch of rookies in the first week of spring training! We're just now half-way through May and I'm ready to chalk the season up as a lost cause and start looking forward to next season. The life of a Rangers fan; un-freakin-believable!

Since the first guy already took Weaver, I'll go with Juan Pierre.

The Dodgers gave $9m to a leadoff/two-guy whose OBP is a paltry .310, an absolutely unacceptable number for anyone in the order, never mind someone batting near the top of the lineup. Pierre can run, but he has absolutely no power - only four extra-base hits (no homers) in 39 games - and he's only scored 25 runs. I honestly have no idea why Grady Little insists on having him in anything other than the 8th spot at this point.

Stupid spending, and the Dodgers should have known better.

Biggest bust -- hmm, is Morganna the Kissing Bandit still around? Or maybe Jose Lima's wife?

Oh, on-field flop. UNPREDICTABLE on-field flop. Well, Phat Al is hitting a lusty .239/.376/.510, which is only some 300 points off his pre-07 career OPS. That's pretty stunning. But I'd go with Weaver. He was never going to be an ace, but this year has been a complete disaster.

never. you ought to evaluate the variables in the deal while he signed it. at the start, he signed the cope with the Royals. The Royals, people. no person warning signs there who has a desire to win. Meche substitute into in it for the money, and the Royals have been satisfied to oblige. He substitute into additionally coming off a profession year. He did furnish a pair years of stability in the rotation, which isn't well worth $fifty 5 million to maximum communities, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is not in any respect the worst deal the Royals have ever made (Mike Sweeney, each physique?).

I would say Jeff Weaver but he doesn't really count. He is worthless in the American League and in the National League. I don't understand why teams overpay this crappy players every single year.

Alfonso Soriano is having a horrible start too in Chicago but he is starting to heat us.

Adam Laroche plays like crap. No wonder the Braves traded him. They saw something that no one else saw, which is NOTHING...

Since everyone has said Jeff Weaver already, haha, hmmm.

How about Barry Zito? He's not really doing too well out in SF, looks like they would have been better off with Gil Meche.

As a team, the New York Yankees without a doubt (and the Cardinals as well). As a player, Jeff Weaver tops the list!!

Chow!!
