In this modern period of ours, no one had a cell phone?!!!! Or did those passive individuals deliberately look the other way because they may have been involved? I don't get it. Where is the civility in this world? As a teacher I know one thing: Parents raised this monster and they are responsible for his actions. What we need in this country are parenting courses starting very early in life. What does it mean to be a good-responsible parent? As for me I would have used my cell phone or at least tried to stop this act. I was involved in something similar to this when i happened upon a thug beating a bar patron in the men's room. I immediately attacked the thug and wrestled him to the ground while yelling for help which came. This piece of scum should be locked away forever and while in jail be required to write an essay once a month on what it means to be a good and productive citizen. Deprive him of some things if he fails to produce the essay (I am assuming he knows how to write). By-the-way how is that vet doing? One further suggestion: Enlist the aid of retired teachers to go into jails and re-educate the scum that's there.

I wouldn't have let the vet get beat up its probably someones grandfather I would have grabbed that pipe I have in the back of my car and beat some a$$es and some of the people who was watching also. I have a good temper but if I would have seen that I would have been on the news for fighting the people and the watchers

Ok, I would call 911 and start screaming at the men around me to do something. If they didn't I would grab the nearest blunt object around me and go in. But, not because he's a WW2 vet, that seems to be an irrelevant fact that was played up by the media for sympathy. Trust me, they didn't need to throw that in, it's horrible as it is.

I would have wanted to shoot the attacker but I would have been arrested and spent more time in jail than the attacker will get for beating the old man! We need to be able to administer justice to those kind of people instead of being worried about us going to jail or being sued by these lowlifes. Thanks to the A.C.L.U. and others like Al Sharpton we can't afford the personal cost to help a war hero in his time of need and that is so sad and wrong!

I can't say exactly what might happen, I would like to think that i would jump in and help, either by yelling or getting physical, and hope like hell the perp doesn't have a gun. Some friggin ghetto bangers ought to be shot and castrated, they're the biggest cowards ever beating up a 91 yr. old man. They don't have the ballz to take on a man their own size and age....

No, I did not see that.
If I thought I could defend the man against the assailants, I would do so. If not, I would call the police. I would NOT just stand there and watch.

A similar thing happened recently in Australia. You go and defend your country and get taken out by some fool you went to protect.

I like to think I would have tried to help him out. At least I would have called the police.
