Africans were brought to America against their will in the 17th and 18th centuries. But since the abolishment of slavery, has it actually benefit them since they are now living in a much better society today than if they were still living in Africa?

In general, yes. Although slavery is a heinous crime against humanity especially in American history. Today, I believe the African-American community are leading better lives today in the USA than if they were still living impoverished in Africa.

What you say is true, their descendants living in the US have a much better chance to have a wholesome life and to reach real progress, than if they would have lived in in Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Coast of Ivory, Ghana or Togo.

Their income would probably have been in the average of US $ 100.00 a month or less and an average life span of 40 years. They would have it very difficult to have had a car or even a fair education, less still a good medical system.

Rather in the US they are well fed (some very fat)
If they don´t take advantage and don´t realize all the benefits they have in the US, its completely their fault.

No, because these people could have CHOSEN to have come here if they wanted, and then had the best of both worlds. Also, had Africa not been decimated by the slave trade, their society would likely be better developed than it is. The new Atlantic economy would have helped them prosper, and they likely would have developed as quickly as the Americas. All the poverty and corruption in Africa is the direct result of the destruction of their infastructure, which began with the slave trade. Civilization was flourishing in many parts of Africa before Europeans came in and wiped them out. There is no way to spin this one to your advantage. Sorry.

I can't see where slavery ever benefited anyone at any time in history. That presumption aligns itself with the notion that Blacks were so ignorant and uneducated that actually they were protected by the owners and lived a better life as slaves. Of course, they were never allowed to become educated, and learning to read was a crime. That notion, therefore, is as absurd as the one that says they are better off because the Blacks live here now and aren't they lucky their ancestors had been slaves. That is RIDICULOUS!!

Chow!!

Good question Yes I think they are better now and the reason is to look at the ex slaves who live in Europe. They made the transition without the bitterness and some day today's Black people will not have to bitterness either.
