I am allergic to fleas and every time we get an infestation (it's been a few years now, knock on wood!) I get swollen welts all over my legs (and wherever else they can reach).

Take your pets to the vet for the day to get them flea dipped and groomed and set off flea bomb in each room. Then vacuum super well and take out the trash.

Just be sure to clean every surface so your pet won't be poisoned by residue.

To keep the fleas away, go to your local pest control and have them spray or put special flea powder OUTSIDE your home.

You need to treat you environment too, as you know. Powders aren't always great - get a flea spray from your vet store. You may need to treat your house twice, vacuuming in between.

Use Frontline Plus spot-on once you have rid your house and animal or fleas. This treats both the animal and the environment by killing the flea eggs too.

Are you using the Frontline monthly? Is is getting completely on the skin, not on the fur? All things that will effect its efficacy, but as I've said you always need to treat your environment regularly too to keep fleas away.

I know what what you are saying I had this problem too. What you do is get a different brand from your vet, advantage works well. I think our fleas are becoming immune to the frontline and I loved this stuff too but it did quit working. Also get some stuff to treat your yard to kill them and i bought some carpet sprinkle(fresh) from wal-mart in the pet section that is supposed to kill the fleas. I did all this and no more problems. You might not need to go through this extreme but I have a cat that is allergic to fleas and I had no choice.

I had seen another question about getting rid of fleas. Get a floor light and place a see through bucket of water or bowl over the light. The fleas will be attracted to the light and will get into the water and drown. Clean out the water every day, but this is a really slow process.

Get an exterminator and a vet!

Best of luck,

Simple and not dangerous,
1- buy a box of twenty mule team borax in the laundry soap aisle. You'll need about a box per room. every room!!!
2- buy liquid 7 from the Home supply gardening shop.
3- apply both liberally to house, yard, under house, to storage structures and under them too, then to the dogs. Wait a couple of days and vacumm house.
4- head and shoulders will also kill fleas on animals but must follow with dog and/or cat creme rinse.

NOTE: Get neighbors in on this idea also and these fleas and ticks and ants will pack up and die.

have you ever heard of rose dust?

sprinkle it on carpet get dogs and cats dipped.set off flea bombs without animals in house of course. then after a day or two vaccuume the carpets .and see if that works.
good luck!
stay away from advantage on cats or small dogs.
my cat almost died from it. it was ment for a dog.

Vaccuume everyday for a week! dont walk around house with socks on. use flipflops. fleas will get in your socks and bit cause they feel trapped

frontline is good. ask your vet for capstar, and put one or two high quality flea collars in your vacuum cleaner bag or filter. my house was overrun last year, and it worked, and within a week. Also, TREAT YOUR YARD!!!! fleas lay eggs in your grass.

you need to take all of them to get a flea dip and get your house 'bug bombed' by a prob. that the only way they re going to disappear.
