Ask the Doctor. They will know and if you took him to the Doc they should have answered all of those questions.

The clavicle or collar bone is one of the more frequently broken bones in the body, especially in children. It can be treated with a clavicle strap, a figure eight bandage, or just a simple sling. For this bone one can almost say "if both ends of the bone are in the same body, it will heal." A bump or callus the size of an acorn will form over the fracture site. This will gradually resolve over a period of six to twelve months.

Nevertheless, there are occasional complications involving injury to the brachial nerve plexus or even to the subclavian artery. While uncommon, it is best that such a fracture be carefully examined by a professional. Problems with non-union are uncommon in my experience, but some orthopedic texts say otherwise. I have rarely seen a congenital non-union or pseudarthrosis.

If you have an active child involved in contact sports, you can expect a clavicle fracture or two.

This is common because clavicles are not early to ossify. 13-15 in boys. [easily broken] You need to have a orthopedic specialist look at your son's film and be sure it has been properly set.

i broke mine over 6 monhts ago and i still have problems with it. if he has a sling be sure and wear it so it will stay unmoveable. the doctor told me the longer you keep it still the faster it will heal. i did not listen and i still hurt.
