Because I said that 9/11 isn't the worst thing thats ever happened!

It's not - want about Rwanda in 1994 - 1million men and boys were killed and the women are dying to this day because the soldiers raped them and gave them AIDS - this is more atrocious that the twin towers falling down.

9/11 was a tragedy - but why are those American people's lives more valuable than anyone else's?

Bandit - Rwanda is just an example - you weren't in a concentration camp during the holocaust were you?

And I wasn't in America either - I'm English - I was in London during the bombings and that was scary but I'm not going to start saying it was like the Blitz or anything am I?

Payne you w.anker I am not black and I never said that colour had anything to do with this - it's views like yours that create such hatred in the world. People like you make it difficult to sympathise with - even in the worst of tragedies - you should take a look around more at the people that consider themselves American - a lot of them are actaully black in case you haven't noticed - so leave that racist crap out of here.

what a lot american's fail to comprehend is that terrorsm was a danger through out the world before the september the11th attacks.

Two factors really stand out for me. Firstly america was built by terrorism. During the civil war and before 'americans' or colonists as they were known then, launched terror attacks on the british (and i would guess also the french) who ruled america. The reason for these attacks was to eventually get rid of the tyrant that ruled there land, which is very much like the state of afghanistan and iraq at the moment.

Another factor is the american government funded the IRA who bombed and killed innocent english people all the way upto and into the 1990's. Don't forget England has always been americas closest ally (when it suites them some might say). I won't list americans reasons for doing this as there were supposedly many.

At the end of the day some americans probably the ones that gave you the thumbs down probably think that 9/11 was the worst thing ever but they won't admit fault to the horrible things america has done. You look at how many innocent americans died during the 9/11 attacks, and how many innocent Afghani's died during that attack and the same for iraq and it doesn't compare. neither does rwanda, the genocide of the nazis and also the russians under stalins rule.

I'm not normally this anti-USA i imagine i'll get lots of thumbs down but i don't care. Most americans are wondeful people sadly some are misled by the media and they're ruled by a an idiotic tyrant who thinks god is on his side but is only in it for the money.

there i've said it now, i;m gonna go have a lie down.

I totally agree with you. I made this point to someone here a while ago. Most (but not all) Americans are blind to anything that happens anywhere else on earth, no matter how bad it may be. The only reason anyone in The US (as well as Europe, I might add) cared about the tsunami a few years ago is because there were American and European tourists killed as well. If it had just been locals, I doubt as big a fuss would have been caused.

And bring on the thumbs down from those of you who are too wrapped up in themselves to see the truth, I really don't care.

First of all, thumbs downs can ruin any good day, so don't think too much about them. Secondly, "the worst thing ever" is very subjective. It was horrible. There are a thousand other horrible things. But WHO could put them in order of the worst? It wouldn't even be a noble task. No one believes the lives of Americans are more valuable than other's but ... well, maybe some do, but not me... but unfortunately most Americans are desensitized to harm done to others overseas and especially to those of races different from oen's own and third world country's citizens.

So, don't really take it personal and also, don't reasonable expect to be able to assign an order of importance to the world's tragedies. It is impossible.

No, you are not wrong in your opinions. An excellent question.
The ruin in Rwanda is none less tragic.

Dun dwell on the thumbs down, you've got many stars on this!!
Thumbs down are not forever...

I commend you for taking a stance and sticking to it no matter the criticism, the problem as I see it is that too many people try to categorise the world and it's people into an either or situation. The Americans are guilty of this by declaring that you are either with them or you are an enemy and that is just as bad as the bigoted responses of others that demand you believe their version of things or you are a sinner and therefore fair game. Unfortunately we as a species have not yet reached a level of maturity that allows us to consider the other viewpoint as a valid argument and if we don't do something about it then I believe we are doomed to suffer eventual extinction. As for the thumbs down thing don't worry about it it don't mean s*it so stick to your guns and you wont betray your own ethics and that is more important than anything.

Do you really have to ask? I'm not American, but don't forget there were people of many nationalities that were murdered. All life is valuable. What happened in Rwanda was well documented, and our hearts went out to them, 13 years ago. To say you don't care about 9/11 is just so insensitive. I looked at the question and also gave you a well-deserved thumbs down.

I'd say I have to agree with most of these answers. Most Americans don't think/know about what goes on in other countries. Hell some don't even know what's going on in their own country. I do have to say though that it is difficult to keep up with everything that's going on in every country. Terrible things are happening all over this world and it's crazy, but I'm sure each country has people who think their countries troubles are much bigger than others especially America.

I couldn't agree with you more.
The thing with 9/11 though was that it was so sudden, shocking and unexpected. Also the American people had never been attacked in their own country on any scale, so of course it was traumatic.
But you are right- atrocities on a massive scale have been part of the daily reality in this world for far too long, only America thought it was immune.

Don't worry about it! =] The question will be on page 5 in 30 minutes and everyone will have forgotten about it.

I guess that people were offended because maybe they lost someone that they loved in the towers and they thought that you just brushed it off like it was no big deal. Not to worry though. Emotions are impossible to read over the computer. People probably just read it wrong.

It was a very difficult time for me and my family because we lost a old friend in the North tower. Especially since I live less then 2 hours away from NY.....I could smell the smell of the burning metal. I could see some of the smoke billowing up....it all brings back bad memories.
