It depends on what your definition of good is. You can build a good one for well under 1500. I'm assuming if your spending that much it might be a gaming or powerful multi media PC. If you don't know how to build your own, this place builds nice ones at reasonable prices. The nice part is you pick what you want on the inside and they install it for you, so its like having a custom made PC.

Dell Outlet is good if you want a laptop. A friend of mine bought a gaming laptop off of the outlet for around 1200. Look at the E1705 model with Nvidia 7900GS installed for the video card on the outlet.

Other then that I'd stay away from your HP's, and other store brands. Nothing beats out a custom made desktop if that is what you are looking for.

Good Luck!

www.dell.com

Prices and packages to suit every budget. They have been more reliable than any other computer I have used and worked on.

When I worked as a hardware technician for Dell, I actually gave step by step instructions to an 80 year old woman in replacing her old motherboard with a new one OVER THE PHONE. This included removing all peripherals, data belts, processor, hard drive, PCI cards, fan, and power supply and then putting it all back together again. Computer booted right up.

I can replace any part on a Dell computer without any problem. That is a nice feature down the road when a drive goes. My computer's burner drive went kaput on my older Dell. I ordered a Sony CDRW drive and replaced it in about 5 minutes. Works like a champ.

Dell also gives you the operating system software with the computer. That it very convenient for repairs to Windows XP. Some computer manufacturers just give you formatting disks.

What are you going to use the computer for? If it’s for gaming try cyberpowerpc.com. If you want a business pc, buy one from Sony. Media centers or everyday PCs should be bought from HP. From want I heard, Dell uses cheap parts, overprice them and has horrible custom service. I don’t know if that’s true about dell thou.
You may also consider building a pc on your own. This is very beneficial if you know what you’re doing because you’ll be getting the best hardware of the cheapest price. If you never build a pc yourself before, get some practice with your old computer first.

there's no way you will ever hit upon a gaming computing device for that low. notwithstanding in case you have been to purchase the areas and build the computing device your self you would be close to to $900. i become thinking of having a impressive equipment awhile returned yet desperate against it because of the fact the those there would desire to truly manage the latest video games have been going to run me approximately $2000. start up saving up!
