Yeah sounds wierd but wondering if anyone else experience this. If I walk out in the sun for a while or drive around without my sun glasses I get these wicked bad headaches. And I'm NOT a headache type of person. When I get them, it takes a toll on my body. It literally slows me down. Keeps me from doing activities and ruins my day. I take tylenol and doesn't help at all. My head just throbs and I get tired. Any advice?? Thank you!!

Yeah obviously I don't look at the sun. Especially if I'm driving, idiot.

Photophobia is a fairly common symptom. For many people, photophobia is not due to any underlying disease. Severe photophobia may be associated with eye problems and cause severe eye pain even in relatively low light.

Increased sun sensitivity may trigger a headache, so minimize exposure to sunlight and sun lamps and wear sunscreen. Too much exposure to the sun may predispose you to headaches. When you sit, work, or spend time in the sun, your head nerves and tissues change their mode, affecting the nerve endings causing pain on either sides or the front of the head.

Headaches vary in forms due to varying causes. For instance, sensitivity to sun often triggers migraine headaches, while muscle constriction predisposes tension headaches. Sun-mediated headaches can be prevented by staying indoors. If you're working outside where there's direct sunlight, you should: Wear a hat or a cap Wear sunglasses Avoid taking hot showers after working in the sun Wear light colored long pants and long sleeve shirts Drink at least one glass of non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic drink every hour Stay out of the sun between 10 am and 2 pm, if possible.

Yes, I have the same problem. Intense light into the eyes can cause headaches. I always have to wear sunglasses when I go out in the sun. It is common. The only thing that helps is sunglasses.

In your case, I think that the sun triggers a migraine in you. You might want to seek medical advice from a doctor. He/she can give you more options than I.

This happens to my husband as well. He has to wear sunglasses whenever he is outside in the sun otherwise he ends up with an amazing headache that Tylenol can't touch. Try wearing sunglasses and a floppy hat to keep the sun off of your head and out of your eyes.

Yes...I get them all the time. There are a few of us that are very sensitive to the sun.

The trick is to always have a pare of sun glasses with you..and wear them. I have found the Motrin and sitting in a dim cooler room for about an hour, maybe a nap can sometimes help so that you can continue on with your day.

Don't forget the sun glasses! Keep an extra pair in the car. You are light sensitive.
I would also recommend you see a doctor about this too. You should probably see a specialist and will need a referral to the right doctor.

You Def. can get a headache from the sun. The main reason is the squinting that you may be doing. Even the littlest squint can make your head start to ache after a while. Try to ware Very dark sunglasses.

It is light sensitivity. Use the sunglasses!
I use Advil for my headaches, but I have to have the sunglasses. I am 40, and my light sensitivity has not decreased with age...I think that the headaches actually hurt worse!!
I would recommend going and buying GOOD sunglasses, not just the cheap kind!
