Definitely not to lower it. There are good reasons why you shouldn't get a tattoo before 18 besides the moral reasons, and immaturity reasons. I have said this before on here, if you get a tattoo before you are done growing think about what will happen to it as your body grows and stretches. Your tattoo will also stretch and it could become distorted and ugly. You would be forced to live with an ugly distorted tattoo for the majority of your life unless you go through the painful process of laser removal. This could all be avoided by just waiting a couple years.
Wait two years and have a nice tattoo for the next 50 - 60 years or do it now and have an ugly, hideous tattoo for the next 50 - 60 years. Two years doesn't sound that bad when put in perspective.

I live in Australia and the drinking age here is 18, however Kevin Rudd (our ridiculous PM) is looking at raising it to 21. Personally, it wouldn't exactly affect me *that* much, seeing as I probably won't be a big drinker, but I just have a problem with the fact that 18 year olds can go to war and DIE for their country, but they're not allowed to have a drink. Also, at colleges there are always college events where there will be alcohol and if the drinking age was 21, half the people at the college wouldn't be able to go to their own college's ball/party/gathering unless they got themselves fake ID's. And another thing - the PM wants to do this to fix Australia's drinking problem. The drinking problem WILL NOT be fixed by raising the age to 21. It will just create a bigger underage drinking problem.

18. The law is fine now, why change it? Sure, there are 16 year olds that are more mature than 18 year olds, but hopefully by the time the stupid ones turn 18 they will mature and not get like a million tattoos instead of one or two and regret it later. If you want a tattoo that bad you could do henna or something.

Doesn't matter, if they want one they'll get one. But I think it should stay at 18, 16 is too young to make the permanent of a decision because at 16 you don't take things very seriously yet. But 21 is too old because you might have already been moved out your parents house for 3 years by then and you can fight in the war, you should be able to make that decision before then.

Keep it at 18. . .16 is way too young. What you like at 16 you are most likely not going to appreciate when you're 30. If you're old enough to vote, I think you're old enough to decide what to put on your body. Although I didn't get my first tattoo until I was 26, I knew what I wanted since the age of 18.

I think they should either keep it at 18 or even raise it. I got my first tattoo at 18. Anything younger than that and you may truly regret it. Sure you can go through the pain of having it removed, but is it really worth it? Just wait until you are 100% sure that you want one, what you want and please, go to a reputable place...

Keep it there. They are pretty expensive. So a 16 year old would have a job and be-able to save. To buy a Tattoo that they regret for the rest of their life. Not to mention you could get a kid to forge the prenatal signature.

I say 16. My son is 11 and I've told him if he ever wants a tattoo I'll go with him to get one at 16. Reason being he'll sneak off and do it any way, this way I know it will be quality work.I've seen too many bad tattoos because they sneak off to do it,I being one of those people. Also deter him from getting someones name like all those idiots, myself included.lol

keep it at 18 because at 16 you make very bad decisions and why make them permanent? I wouldn't want my kids running around looking like idiots because they picked something stupid to put on their bodies. BTW I have tats so I'm not against them in general just the stupid ones
