Bleach: That stuff is great for killing mold. After that, get a dehumidifier and seal your basement well so no more water will come in.

Fill a bucket with hot soapy bleach water and use a brush to scrub the walls down. This will get rid of the mold and the smell. Make sure you have proper ventilation when doing this because of the fumes from the bleach. It might be a good idea to wear a mask. But every time it rains, you might have it happen again. Especially if your basement draws alot of moisture. Sometimes it doesn't come back. But the bleach will work. You might have to have your basement water sealed. Good Luck!!

You should definitely get a dehumidifier in order to prevent mold from coming back once you clean it up, especially in the summer months. To clean the mold you currently have in your basement (be sure to wear a mask so you do not inhale any of the mold particles,) you could use bleach, but that might be a bit abrasive for some surfaces. I have used a diluted mix of hydrogen peroxide in the past. You could also use a household dish soap as well (with warm water.) Be sure to use a scrubbing pad especially on porous surfaces. Just to note, if any wood surfaces have mold on them, you should spend extra time cleaning them. The mold spores will enter in the pours of the wood and get a bit deeper in the wood.

i recently moved into a new house and to my dismay there was mold...
i called my mom...
her method:
get a clean spray bottle and fill it halfway with bleach and the rest with water...
spray it all over the walls.. ( if you have a finished basement i know bleach sounds harsh but cmon theres mold down there now you know)
the bleach smell is intense so i would open a window or use a fan.. even wear a mask.
good luck

you definetly have to use bleach. Get a bucket fill it with half bleach and half of hot water and scrub the area with a brush you'll be able to see the mold come off. This really does work. Good luck with it.
