I use cottage cheese with Parmesan cheese in it with an egg....mix it up. I use two kinds of cheese Mozzarella and Cheddar, and when I make the marinara sauce I use meat balls [that I make fresh] and slice them in half. layer with noodles....I think I will make that for dinner! Thanks for the idea! oh and I forgot the oregano and Parsley just a dash in the cottage cheese mixture! and garlic too!

I use a combo of ground beef and ground sausage with minced garlic and onions and crushed red peppers, drain and add some red wine to the meat mixture. I also use ricotta & cottage cheese mixed together with eggs, salt, pepper and parsly and mozzarella seperatly.
Forgot the parm cheese and the spinach.

The absolute easiest and best recipe(according to me!!) is right on the back of the lasagna noodle box!! But to me ricotta is better than cottage cheese!

I think I have the "basic" recipe without all the fancy stuff. We use the same cheeses as you do (at once). I'm going to make one soon and I'd like to use a mixture of sweet italian suasge and ground beef. I hope it works out. I saw a lady put just a dash of cinnamon in her sauce one time. It was just barely noticeable, but gave a nice little "something" to the flavor- give it a try.

I always use all three plus Parmesan. For the filling, 2 parts ricotta, 1 part cottage, 1 part Parmesan. Mozzarella on top.

Yes, I use ricotta and mozzerella. I also use my own sauce as opposed to the jar kind, and I like to put ground meat and sausage in there for added flavor.

I will put Ricotta and Mozzarella and make a flavorful sauce with bay leaves, oregano, onion and garlic, peppers. I figure more is less.
