I was expecting my period around May 10-12. It was late (with no reason for concern), but then while waiting for my period to arrive my boyfriend fingered me, and there's a possibility there was semen on his hand. On May 14, I finally started my period but it was unusually light and looked like old brown blood. So I woke up hoping that today (May 15) it would be back to normal. But if anything I'm more worried. It's still brown and light. What could it be? Could it be some sort of infection, or could I actually be pregnant (implantation bleeding)? I've never had sex, so the likelihood of being pregnant from this is slim right? What could it be!!?

As for the specifics asked:
I'm 18
I'm not having (nor have I ever) had sex
I'm not on the pill

Would what I'm experiencing be considered my period? And if for peace of mind I do take a pregnancy test, could I take it now or do I have to wait?

Very slim. I have had periods like this before where the blood was brown. I would watch and see what happens the next couple of days. I personally don't think there is a possibility of your being pregnant because I don't think the semen would have survived. It's possible that maybe he broke the hymen which nornally gets torn the first time a female has sex and the blood can be from there

Well first of all don't panic!!! Wait about a week and if there is still no period get a pregnancy test or better yet go to the free clinic or to see your doctor. Hopefully it's not a sexually transmitted disease but sounds like that is what it could be some sort of discharge maybe. In the future make sure you be careful and clean, this means sex, a kiss, and yes a finger too. Good luck.

Hormonal changes affect the coloring. If you orgasm, your hormones change. Also, infections are of a brown discharge. Make sure he has clean hands before touching you. Always use condoms no matter what. There's more to worry about than pregnancy. Disease is nasty. If you have a tubal pregnancy (stuck in your fallopean tubes), you will still bleed in the form of spotting, followed by severe cramping. You should get on the pill to avoid these uneasy feelings each month.

You're not pregnant. Even if your boyfriend had semen on his fingers, as soon as sperm and air mix, the air kills it almost instantly. The strange period is probably natural dischage. Your body may be cleansing itself. Are you on the pill? If you just started the pill, having an akward period is common. If you are not on the pill, your period will do funny things (sometimes be late, sometimes early, sometimes very light, sometimes heavy etc). Your best bet is to get on the pill if you aren't so you don't have to worry about such things.

I usually have a brown discharge before and after my actual period. You should be concerned if you are itching down there, you feel some pain or burning sensation, and/or your discharge smells fishy. Other than that, try to relax -- sometimes stress delays our periods. Wait for a few days are get a pregnancy test.

How long ago did you officially start your period for the first time? Generally the first year that you are on, your period will be very wierd and irregular while your body adjusts to the hormonal changes. As long as you aren't itching or smelly down there, you should be fine, but if you genuinely are worried, it never hurts to see the doctor.

The chances are very slim. It is hard enough for a full load of sperm to make it to their intended destination, let alone a few. The Vaginal PH generally kills the sperm anyway. The chances that it actually made it to your fallopian tubes is slim.

You probably aren't pregnant. If you were, your symptoms would be different. Go get a pregnancy test if your really worried.

Doesn't seem like pregnancy or an infection. Don't panic.
