Why support either side? Hamas and Fatah must get their act together and sort out the total mess in the Gaza. If this is how they manage territory handed over by Israel, I guess the occupied West Bank will be thankful for the relative comparitive peace.

i'm surprised by way of the reaction of the guy who responded in simple terms earlier me. What, so besides to offering variety new housing, college, water and electrical energy to Gaza, Israel would desire to now supply much extra to the very people who attack Israeli voters with suicide bombers and rockets??? The Palestinians democratically elected Hamas. they chosen Hamas understanding that this team have been dedicated to destroying Israel - while Fatah had already agreed to peace talks. Why in the worldwide would desire to Israel - it fairly is a tiny u . s ., and not in any respect prosperous - supply funds to those Islamic extremists? it may well be insanity.

I tend to prefer Fatah, as they are much more secular, but unfortunately due to their own greed, inefficiency and corruption, many Palestinians no longer support them.
Hamas, on the other hand, is a fundamentalist Islamic movement. However it has actually been getting things accomplished - it has built schools and clinics, created programs for those with no work etc. etc.

Thats A Stupid Question From A Stupid Person. You Sound Like You're Talking About A Football Match. We Should Not Support Any. We Should Hope They Stop Fighting.

It's obvious both the CIA and Mossad are supporting Fatah. They don't want to deal with Hamas. If not for CIA(taxpayer) dollars Fatah would have collapsed.

The state of Israel is illegally occupying its poor neighbour, with a very heavy hand - because by the very act of occupying Palestine, it created its own security problems.
Palestine really needs Israel; they are a poor nation, which will not get much from their Arab neighbours beyond political rhetoric. However every effort made to find a peaceful solution has been sunk by the heavy hand of the right wing Israelis, and its been going on for a long time now.
I remember when Israel threw out all the Sunni clerics, teachers and politicians, and they sat in the frost covered hills of the Golan Heights in no-mans land. Syria which was in control of the Lebanon, did not want them, Jordan did not want them either.
Thus the present generation of Shia inspired idiots, who are trying to vie for power in Palestine, is a direct result of Israel removing any moderate leadership from the country 20 years ago. Israel is reaping the whirlwind they sowed... and the poor on both sides are suffering.
The majority of secular Jews in Israel would love to live in peace with their neighbours. However, the right wing are a small, but growing group of unemployed radicals, who want to have ten children, do not serve in the military, and survive on state benefits.
Israel - in order to survive needed fresh non-radical blood, which it got from Russia. It tempted them in by giving them land, and it pays for its security with dollars, grant aid from America.
This is where the problems start; they did not have any land to give away, so they gave away hilltops in the occupied West Bank. What's worse it that they were funded by the fundamentalist - the Christian ones in America, who want the Jews to have the empire they had in revelations - to fulfil the prophecy.
So you have one group of mad Americans sending money to Israel to 'support democracy' against 'Russian funded governments' of Syria and Egypt.
Another group of religious nuts who want to make the world just the same as it is described in the last book of the Bible.
A group of Jews who do all the dirty work, and pay the taxes, trying to keep the peace between the Jewish religious nuts and the Palestinians who need the work, and finally a whole generation of Palestinians who have been raised with out any moderate guidance.
It only take one heavy handed zealot to start the next round of an eye for an eye, and after 60 years of occupation, both sides are frankly now blind. So when the Palestinians start to break down the end result for Israel will be much more unstability, and the Palestinians will suffer twice as much as thier neighbours. Its a mess, and frankly they are all looking rather shaky in my eyes... there is not much to merit any side at the moment.
Of course in the post 9-11 world, the Americans and Europe are now trying to prevent Hammas. Peace in Ireland happened because the British Goverment recognised the IRA. Rightly or wrongly the Palestinians have chosen Hammas, and our goverments are not happy with that 'democratic' choice, so they continue to interfere, and ignore Israels 'Berlin wall' land grab. Until we again support the Palestinains choice - and stop sending weapons into this troubled spot - to Fatah and Israel- , it will remain a big mess.

Fatah of course. Hamas is more of a terrorist organization even though Fatah has also supported terrorism to a lesser extent

With any luck they will both lose.
Maybe if they kill each other off then some rational Palestinian leaders will emerge.
