My advice to you is to find another job. When they know your business they use it to form generalisations about you that are sometimes far from the truth. My boss is a bit of a nosy control freak too. I really regret ever telling her anything at all. I got fired for one professional mistake, and in our firing meeting she kept bringing up personal and very private things that had nothing to do with my job or the mistake I made, as if to say, well here is proof that you are so and so...It was very hurtful and inappropriate. So, either you leave, or you tell her as politely as you can that you are under no obligation to share your business with her.

I think you are very right what ever goes on in the privacy of your home is your business this woman is moveing totally out of herperfessional status this is unperfessinoal bahaviour. I dont know about across there bacause i live in the caribbean and when we have that kind of problem we report it to workers trade union and get fully compensated so ask around tto a few people in your neighbor-hood and make sure this woman pays for her fastness.

It's your business and non of hers. You don't have to tell her a damned thing. Some bosses get your business life and personal life twisted. I remeber my manager started asking about my personal life and I had to shut him down. If you don't want to tell her whats wrong than don't. As long as you have a doctors note than thats all she needs to know.

It's called HIPAA privacy laws. Tell you boss she doesn't have a right to know and if she keeps prying you will report her to her boss. Meanwhile, just make sure you have your doctor's notes stating any work restrictions to cover yourself. If they fire you for this, you would have a strong case against them possibly.

All you are required to do is show her the Dr.'s excuse! It really is none of her business what your illness is. As long as you have that excuse and are trying to do your job to the best of your ability, she can't do anything. Tell her you really like working with her and would love to keep it that way but some things are personal and she will just have to accept that.

I had a similar situation with an old boss.
first and foremost, if you have a doctor's letter of proof of your illness, screw what your boss wants to know!
she has what she needs and that's that! without that letter then you would need further explanation. but as far as it goes now, she's crossing the line and deserves to be reported...

Find out if other employees have had the same attitude from her. Perhaps she has been reported to HR already.

She needs to be reported to your HR dept head. This is totally out of line.
