touch wood when i dont want to tempt fate, otherwise i shut my eyes really tight clench my fists and say pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaeease!

To cross my fingers is enough for me. It has been working well for me because immediately after I cross them, I have to back to work harder to help a little...

I don't believe in 'good luck' ... and when I want something good to happen I 'cross myself' (I'm a Catholic) and say a little prayer ... as appropriate.
