Its not a crime. I think its sad when ANYONE uses that word. It just shows that intelligence is optional for some people. I personally wouldn't be offended if a white person calls me that. I would look at them and wonder why they didn't just call me something else. I do agree that there is a double standard and that no one should use that word. I think black people get offended because that word was historically used to hurt people and because there is still overt and covert racism against blacks, it still hurts especially falling out of a white person's dome. Just don't use the word. I stopped listening to rap because of that word & just the overall negativity it represents.

I hear many words in songs that I know is inappropiate to use. Just because it was said in the rap community, it does not mean that the vast majority of black people use that word. You said 50% of the songs. Without going into a bunch of numbers, that means that only a small percentage of black america even listens to it and even less that use the word.
Curiousity makes me wonder why someone would be upset that they could not use a racial slur. Racial slurs are inappropiate no matter who uses them. Here is the problem, if you believe that it is appropiate, what happens when you use the word to address a person that refrains from using it and has never used it. Would that be deemed unfair and bigotted. If such a small percentage used the word, then why would you even want to risk offended those that do not and think that it is deplorable?
Saying the N word is not a crime. Using race as a means to harm someone or something is. That is for any race.
The answer is not to condone the use of those words at all. The answer is to clean up rap music so such deragatory things are not present. Using that word does not benefit anyone.
I would think that it would speak volumes for any race to say that the word is inappropiate and complain about its use. Instead of complaining about it not being acceptable to use.

Because liberals have a condescending attitude towards black people and want to treat them like children who can't be expected to behave as adults. And self appointed black 'leaders' like Jackson and Sharpton have made a business off of this fallacy.
What is the bigger insult, what is ultimately more damaging? Saying bad words or creating a stereotype that blacks are less than other races and have to be dealt with by a different standard?
That said, the whole N word issue is just one incident in a bigger issue being played out. Do you have the right to never be offended by the words of another and if so where does this right start and stop?
Personally I think this is a fake issue created by those who want the masses divided and occupied so we don't unite and focus on larger issues that we all have in common. It's the have's vs the have nots not black vs white.

Ask yourself this, smart guy. Why are white people using it, or would want to use it? Is it because black people do, and you/they want to be "down"? Or is it because white people enjoy the reaction they get from it? And I think you know which one. I also think that the only reason people like you even ask this question is because you don't like the double standard, or at the very least, you don't understand it. You think you can come up with a different arguement? Because you've about beaten this horse to death my friend. If this is all you have to say, perhaps you should get out there and find out what the "real" problems are with society, as opposed to droning on and on about something to which you have no influence over, and constantly whining about it.

there is a law that designates the use of the n word as a hate crime? are you sure? I think you may be mistaken.
BTW, 50% of rap uses the N-word? That's ingnorant. You've probably based that assertion on the one rap song you've ever heard.
here is a quote from my favorite rap song that uses the n-word.
so many black men out here tryin to be njggas keepin it real to the point that they dyin to be njggas when in actuality the fact is you aint a njgga because you black you a njgga cause how you act

Apparently you can call white people anything you want and it is OK. The N word is only bad if you are white and use it because it is "only" derogatory if used by a white. Doesn't seem fair, does it?
We can't have anything for just whites because that is prejudicial but any other ethnicity can have whatever it wants and whites can be excluded.
I frankly don't care what racial remarks are made to me cause I don't care what they think. It's actually pretty interesting when people start the name calling. All they do is point out their shortcomings.
Might be time to start challenging this type of action. . .

There is a such a thing as cause and effects. Do what you feel is necessary. This same question gets asked 10 times a week. I would refer you to the different variations of this same questions, asked in the last weeks.

Why can rap "artists" say things like gonna kill all the white devils in a song and its all right? How about why a white man assaults a black man it is a hate crime yet national crime statistics show that more assaults occur where blacks assault white its called liberalism and it is destroying a great nation it is time to take our country back

same reason the rock band 'the butchies' can call themselves that but if a straight person who they don't know very well walks up to a lesbian and yells 'BUTCH' at them it would be inappropriate.... my aunts are lesbians and i can say this kind of stuff jokingly around them because we're close but if someone they don't know says it i'd probably kick their @ss
