When I sleep all of a sudden i realise that I am sleeping and I cant move, so I try to wake myself up, but I struggle, its as if I cant move at all. eventually I manage to get some weird sounds out of my mouth and my husband shakes me and I wake up.It happens on average twice a week ... why is this happening so often and what is causing it? Ive had it for the past 5 years or so and it happens more regularly if I am stressed or have a lot on my mind. What can I do to stop it from happening? Is this normal for it to happen so often? Ive also been experiencing feelings of paranoia lately, ie constantly checking if the doors are locked etc. there is a lot of crime here in south africa but I think I am overly paranoid , I live in Bryanston

It is called sleep paralysis and happens when you are at that stage between sleep and awake. You can learn more about it by looking up sleep disorders. I know because I have sleep disorder and am narcoleptic. It is a very strange and scary feeling I know.
