Yes, tuberculosis is infectious and can be spread from person to person. It's pretty serious. I would suggest watching him very closely for symptoms and taking him to a doctor if he shows any.

Yes, you need to have him checked out. Most likely he should be ok since the bacteria usually needs to be introduced to the lungs to cause trouble (although it can attack any organ), and as long as he did not inhale the juice by accident he should be fine, especially if he has a good immune system. The only problem though is that the bacterium needs a very long incubation period to be grown and identified. It takes up to 6 weeks to get a negative back if your son provides a sputum sample. I think your best bet is to have a PPD done on your son. This way, you can tell if he really was exposed by seeing if the PPD left a welt or not.

If the tuberculosis (TB) is still in the infectious phase then yes. It can be spread through the air on little water/ spit droplets so anyone who has spent a while with your uncle could have it. I don't know where you live, but in england anyone who is diagnosed with TB needs to give the contact names of their family/ close friends/ coworkers and they all need to be checked for TB. Its not THAT likely that he's caught it but it still could happen- and is alot better if its treated earlier on! Good luck xx

You mean tuberculosis?

Yes, it can. TB spreads through person to person contact. Does your uncle has TB? If so, he needs immediate medical attention. Anyone being in a company of an infected person can catch the disease.

For more detail, look at the CDC site.

I am not a DR. but I think that is why people that work in the preparing of food must get tested and if they have TB they can not get hired.
