I love the idea of the boycot, but what will it really do. Everyone who needs gas today will just buy it tomorrow. Do you really thing it will hurt the industry.
If we want to make this work. We should boycot one company at a time. Take out the big wigs first. No one buy gas exxon for a month. Then no one buy gas from Shell for a month, and so one. The big wigs will drop the gas prices because no one will buy their gas.
The public can control the price of gas, if we can do it as one unit.

I hate to tell you, but this is among the most worthless forms of protest ever considered. It ranks right up there with celebrities town hopping in a Gulf Stream Jet stumping for global warming.
Answer to xwhyzguy78's response:
This won't work either. If ExxonMobil ever has a surplus (like the would if they were boycotted), they will simply sell their gas to another company (like Shell) for a slightly lower profit margin. This is a very common practice in the industry and works in benefit to both companies.

Won't make a bit of difference. Gas is high because of communist dictator Chavez in Venezuela, civil disturbances in Nigeria, and limited refinery capacity in the US. The retail stations, who make only pennies a gallon, aren't going to sell at a loss. Private industry hasn't had any motivation to increase refinery capacity in over 30 years because of restrictions by OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies, even though people may be led to think that they are making excessive profits. Where do you think the profits go when refineries and drill rigs are wiped out by hurricanes? The only recent proposal to build a refinery here came from the Kuwaitis, who have the money to HELP US OUT.
President Bush is not the source of the problem, or Dick Cheney either, despite all the garbage that the liberals throw at him because he happened to be CEO of Halliburton EIGHT YEARS AGO. Halliburton of course got bashed because of its KBR (Kellogg Brown and Root) engineering division, the largest in the world in oil production and defense contracting. KBR HAS NO SERIOUS COMPETITION IN AMERICA, and the nearest competitor, AGIP of France, often has to partner with KBR on big jobs worldwide. Think anyone can shut KBR down? Think again.
Halliburton has spun off KBR. If you think either firm is making obscene profits, why don't you get smart and buy nto their stocks?

I'm not buying gas today, nor did I yesterday, nor will I tomorrow. Why can't people understand that a one day boycott WILL NOT hurt these places? It is going to take the idiots we elect to do something about it and we see how well that is working! One day doesn't cut it. These places are raking in 60 million in PROFIT a month. Who honestly thinks one day will hurt? People don't buy gas every single day anyway. You buy it when you need it. I don't need it today (nor yesterday nor tomorrow) but by Thursday I will, as will millions of others.

EV motive force right here. electric powered automobiles are obtainable immediately, and resolve a solid portion of the subject. in addition to, expenditures have been dropping. A Mitsubishi i-MiEV expenses merely $21,000 after incentives, and the Nissan Leaf's newly introduced pricing additionally places it in this funds. * the two automobiles will save an standard motive force between $one hundred fifty and $3 hundred in line with month in fueling value - electrical energy is plenty greater budget friendly than gas. have for my section replaced a $250 gas bill with a $30 enhance in my electric powered bill. * Saving $2000 to $3000 in line with year provides up quickly - after merely 5 years of possession, you have stored $10,000 to $15,000. using the linked fee reductions to offset the value of the vehicle. this suggests the vehicle particularly value you someplace between $6,000 and $11,000. * Use a number of those fee reductions to get a photograph voltaic panel to your storage. you could now value up and force almost for loose, and make no pollution in any respect.

Don't worry, the Democrats said they would take care of
this once they had the majority in Congress, well they have
it and all I see are higher prices.
Maybe we should have stopped Al Gore from selling off
Elk Hills, part of our petroleum reserves to Occidental Petroleum
But since his father was a VP at Occidental, I don't think there
was anything fishy about doing this. (yep, nothing fishy),
Al still gets $20,000 a year from Occidental supposedly for
mineral rights to property that was sold to Al Sr, and later
purchased by Al Jr.

not BUYING gas on any given day does nothing, because you'll just buy it on a different day, your weekly consumption will remain the same. now, if you want to hurt the oil companies you need to not USE any gas for a day.

I hope you realize how ridiculous that is, if everybody doesn't buy gas today then twice as many people will buy it tomorrow. Unless you plan on boycotting gas forever it will not result in any change in the net fuel consumption. I for one will buy gas today even though I don't need it.
