I say U2 is better and as others pointed out, hard to compare the two bands.

How the hell can you even compare the two?
One of the bands have managed to keep alive for nearly three decades, selling millions of albums and selling out concerts worldwide. They've been hailed as one of the most influential and ground-breaking acts in rock and roll.
The other one had a slew of semi-hits over 20 years ago, appealed generally to the heavy-metal fan base and disappeared... only to be remembered in a nostalgic matter.
I think it's pretty safe to say U2 wins this one.
