Since only two teams have come back from a 3-0 deficit it's about 99% certain they will compete for the cup. Looks like they will take Buffalo down in 5 games maybe even 4. The other series will probably go the full 7 games, so unless they get rusty they should be pretty sharp to face either Anaheim or Detroit. If the "Red Wings" curse holds up Ottawa has a good chance to hoist the cup in the capital again after 80 years.

I'm going to say that there is a good chance the Sens won't lose another game in these playoffs!

Lets plan the floating parade down the canal!

I've been watching the Ducks - Wings series and it isn't in the same league as the Sens - Sabres series.

There is a reason the cup has been won by the east the past three times. The east is better, helped by the fact they don't have to travel nearly as much during the season.

I'm not betting on it. I still think the Ducks are the best TEAM left. With a former Norris trophy winner as the coach the team is very well disciplined in the defense department. Sens have been lucky they haven't lost anyone to injury so far and haven't really come up against abump and bang playoff style team yet.
If the Wings should somehow win, the Sens should take the cup.

Ottawa is a good team. Their offense is exceptional with very solid play coming from all lines. However, their goaltending is questionable. I believe whoever they end up playing in the finals either the Wings or the Ducks the Senators will lose.

My prediction is Ottawa versus Detroit. Detroit wins due to Hasek's goaltending and the firepower of Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

I think they have a very good chance.

People said the Penguins would beat the sens with youthful skill and Crosby's extraordinary raw talent. Hockey gurus favoured Pittsburgh by a small margin. Sens won in 5.

People said the Devils would shutdown the sens with their trap mentality and with Brodeur's amazing goaltending skills. Most people predicted Jersey would win. Sens won in 5.

People said the Sabres would beat the sens in a hard fought series, and edging out due to Miller and slightly more depth. Most people predicted Sabres in 6 or 7 (from what I observed)... Sens are winning 3 games to none.

Now people are saying that the west is much better than the east... that the Red Wings or the Ducks can easily beat Ottawa in the finals.... anyone detecting a pattern?

I do.

I was concerned about the finals against a big goalie like Giguere or Hasek... but no more after last night.

They have now won two big Game 3's that the opposing goalie should have stolen from them (vs. Jersey in Round 2, and yesterday). In previous times they would lose those games to Hasek or Cujo or whatever.

To me that's the major difference between this year's edition and those that would miserably fold against the Leafs in the past: they don't hide behind the "hot goalie" excuse anymore.

They are a juggernaught on the ice, and Alfie is walking on water.

At this point, picking Ottawa is not much of a stretch. They have approximately a 49% chance. Call it an even 50-50. Buffalo is not coming back.

Detroit does not stand a chance, Anaheim could push it to 7 but Ottawa wins.

The only things that can happen to Ottawa is; they'll either blow their 3-0 lead and lose this series, or they'll advance to the finals and Detroit will @$$ kick them back into their igloos.
