Fish can drown. Technically, drowning is running out of oxygen and dying while under water, yes? If you've got 10 fish in a bowl, the oxygen will definitely be depleted pretty quickly.

I bet the two surviving fish are labyrinth fish. =b

Did you word the question wrong. I think you meant to say all but 8 drowned. So there would be 8 left.

Did the 8 who drowned get the bends?

I take it the surviving two fish went to a decent scuba diving school where they learned about not coming up to the surface too fast.
