The Mughal Empire reached its greatest strength and fame during the reign of its early emperors, including the era of Shah Jahan, the creator of the Taj Mahal. Described as one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the Taj Mahal was built as a symbol of eternal love by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand. Millions of tourists visit the site yearly, making it one of the most popular attractions in the world.

The experience of walking within its chambers, hearing voices echo in the same manner as they did hundreds of years ago, and touching the sculpted walls was overwhelming for Shors. “Seeing the wonder of the Taj Mahal, and understanding that a man built it for his wife—a woman he cherished above all else in life—was uniquely inspiring"

One of the legends of the Taj is that the hands of the master masons who built it were cut off by the emperor, so that they could never build anything lovelier. Another is that the mausoleum was constructed in secrecy behind high walls, and a man who tried to sneak a preview was blinded for his interest in architecture.

At night, especially during a full moon, the building seems to glow from some inner blue flame. And when there's a low fog from the Jamuma (Yamuna) River, the entire affair can appear as a mirage floating on a cloud. In reality, the building sits on a base of marble 186 feet by 186 feet. The corners of this square are cut off, forming an unequal octagon. Its dome is 213 feet high, and is surrounded by four more smaller domes. The minarets are 162 and a half feet tall.

The Taj Mahal (sometimes called "the Taj") is generally considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Turkish, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles.

The main gateway (darwaza) is a monumental structure built primarily of marble.

The domes and vaults of the sandstone buildings are worked with tracery of incised painting to create elaborate geometric forms

It is a masterpiece of artistic craftsmanship, virtually without precedent or equal.

Taj Mahal was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today it is a major tourist destination

its splendor during nighttime, especially at moonlit nights, is beyond the scope of words. The rays of the moon light up the entire monument and lend it a faint silvery glow. Taj Mahal looks so mesmerizing on a full moon night that you will not even notice how the night passed and the sun came to bathe it in shades of pink.

So,its a tourist place
