Service was great, and I was feeling festive. It was a big dinner for several people.

A group of 9 of us left a $500 tip. $300 for the waitress, $200 for the general pool this restaurant insisted all the servers must put their tips into.
Personally, I'm against that - because then the slacker with a bad attitude gets a share of the tip that the person who worked hard, was personable and genuinely earned it - not acceptable in my book. You don't get a reward for just showing up.

We left a $20 tip on a $20 tab when some parents in the group we were with walked out without paying because service was slow. They cheated the waitress about $100.
