Don't worry they will come to know if you talk to them.

You sound like me several years ago. I had a bad girl image that did not suit me. I shed my image by being aware of others and listening more than I talk. Once that started happening, I would make a point to compliment people more often, say nice things about strangers, "ooh and ahh" over babies that I hadn't commented on before. For me, I was overly analytical and just needed to be more emotional and aware of others' emotions.
Are you sarcastic? I am, and it really didn't help me seem positive. Sarcasm and being cynical can easily go together. These days, I keep sarcastic remarks to myself a lot more.
It's really just about shifting the focus from you to everyone else. People love to be the center of attention, and when you put them there, they will see you as a positive force. It sounds silly, but it's true. It works.

Pauline, let them think as they will. I know you think its important now, but in another year or two it won't matter at all. After school, your life begins. School is for learning facts not really growing up. Life will give you that and what others think won't matter as much. Keep you positive attitude, it's very important. I had a "bad girl" rep and didn't even deserve it. Don't let it stigmatize you or keep you from growing in your own special ways. These people won't matter, they truly won't. I do know it's hard cause you are there now and it feels bad. Hard to ignore but go about your own business, others WILL see.

First, actions speak louder than words. It may be unfair but if you wear short short skirts, loud make up, and tight shirts, you will be seen as easy for example. If you hang with bad kids, then you will be seen as a bad kid. (Once again, this may not be fair). You can be seen as whatever you want by emulating the actions of that type of person. Find a hero and copy her. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just be yourself. Good people will understand you and know you are a good person, and bad people will give you a hard time.
