I was at work...I remember everything as if it just happened yesterday...I heard from a co worker that a plane had struck the World Trade Center...we all thought it was one of those small cessna planes and then we were told a second plane had hit the 2nd tower and these were not small planes but Jetliners...living just 20 miles north of NYC we headed up to the roof of the building we were working in...I'll never forget what I saw,the burning of both towers, then all of a sudden we saw a huge cloud of smoke.almost as if it was an atomic bomb cloud...what we didn't know at the time was the collapse of the first tower...that vision will be embedded in mind until the day I die...At the time I was working with a woman who lost her son that day...he was a firemen that was caught in the south tower when it went down...he was just 28 years old, married with a 3 month old daughter...just so sad...you couldn't help but know of someone...a friend,a co worker or a neighbor who lost a loved one...one of my wife's best friend husband is a firemen who was suppose to work that day but switched with someone...he lost 7 men in his battalion that day...including the man who switched with him...I can't begin to tell how heart wrenching that was to hear...You can't help but have your heart go out to all of those who perished that sad day...which is why it will be a day WE WILL NEVER FORGET...

With all due respect K-E-G the world did not "stop turning" on 9 -11. What happened was a tragedy of great proportions and I don't mean to suggest that it wasn't.

But every year millions of children in Africa and other third world nations die of disease and starvation. A tsunami wiped out tens of thousands of people in one day.

Anyone that believes that 9-11 was the greatest tragedy that has befallen the Earth needs to read about the Holocaust in WW2 where 6,000,000 men women and children were killed in concentration camps.

9-11 was a tragedy but in the context of tragedies that have happened in the past and are ongoing today it is not the end of the world.

I love that song. I am not a big country fan but I bought that album because of that song. I was at work when the first plane hit and was home and seen the second plane hit live on the air. I work overnight. I watched the news coverage all day. That was a senseless tragedy. All those lives killed for no reason. I hope we don't get attacked again but with all the countries in the world that hate us now I think we might get attacked again. I hope the next time we are ready for it.

Getting ready for work. I remember glancing at the TV thinking, "what movie is this for" then Katie Curic coming on saying that a plane (this was just the 1st plane) had accidentally hit one of the Twin Towers. I watched the 2nd plane hit live. I literally was frozen standing in the middle of my living room.

I got my act together and left for work. I lived in Boulder City, Nevada at the time...a normal flight plan route for Las Vegas located 1/2 hr away. The deadly SILENCE when all planes were grounded was so creepy. Everyone on the road was in shock - everyone was nice. (Not the norm in Vegas)

We watched everything unfold on the internet all day. And when we finally left to go home, I found that Boulder City had been corrdoned off - only residents with proof of residency could enter.

I found out later why - the Hoover Dam.

At work. When the first plane crashed, I thought it was a drunk pilot. I also thought the building would hold up, since I knew that a bomber crashed into the Empire State Bldg in the late 40s, and I figgured the building was constructed of even stronger materials. Someone found a TV and managed to get a local station on it, and we all gathered around to watch it. The whole day was surreal.

I was driving to work and they were talking about it on the radio. I thought it was a hoax but when I got to work everybody in the dealership was huddled around the t.v. in the service customers lounge, there was an eerie feeling in the air and then I watched in horror as the second plane hit. Just talking about it now makes my stomach turn. I still can't believe that happened, that day will stay with me forever :-(

I assume you mean 9/11.

I was at home, working and my brother called me and told me to turn on my TV.

I am not prone to sensationalism. That was one of the most shocking things I ever watched. I was on the phone with my mother when the first tower collapsed and I remember trying to describe to her what happened.

It took a long time for me to stop thinking about the events of that day, whereas most disasters do not linger with me for more than a few hours.

Sleeping in by dorm at The George Washington University. I remember that when I awoke, I had no idea what was going on. Sadly, everyone else did, including my mother, who was desperately trying to get through to me. The phone lines were jammed - It was very scary - We could see the smoke from the Pentagon disaster from our roof, and the metro stop at the Pentagon smelled of fire and soot for weeks after the massacre.
