Survivor Series 1997- Bret was allegedly going to sign a deal with the WCW but at thus time he still had the WWF belt. Bret was willing to drop the title but anywhere but Canada. There were many discussion on this even on the final night and bret was told he was going to be put into the Sharpshotter by Shawn Michaels only for him to reverse it and then DX and the hart foundation to enter and turn it into a no-contest but Vinny Mac had other ideas when he ordered the bell before Bret tapped. Superstars like Vader thought their was something dodgy about that and told bret not to go into any submissions. After the bell rang Hart destroyed ring side and fameously wrote WCW in air letters. Backstage Bret Hart confronted Vince and then ended up smacking him one....... best explaination you'll ever get

The paperview was Survivor Series and the year was 1997. And I'm not trying to be rude and I'm sorry to say this, but you spelled paperview wrong and I believe it is one word, not three. Also, because of the sentence, there is no ' in Shawn Michael's name. I think you mean to ask, "what paperview and what year did Bret Hart famously get screwed by Vince and Shawn Michaels?" Don't worry, I make a lot of mistakes.

The PPV was the 1997 Survivor Series, Bret Hart was going to leave for WCW and Vince didn't want to risk him showing up there with the WWF title although Bret said he would drop the belt the next night on Raw he just didn't want to do the job in Canada. Depending on what source you believe there is a couple of versions of the truth but if you read the Shawn Micheal's autobiography he openly admits he went to Vince and said he would do it and Vince took the blame himself which led to Bret spitting in his face and later punching him in the eye. Shawn denied any knowledge of what happened but in reality spent the hours before the event very nervous and in the company of the very large Harris brothers and if you watch the match notice how quickly Triple H gets to ringside. This whole ordeal later led to Vince infamously saying "Bret screwed Bret!"

It was the Survivor Series 1997 in Montreal.Bret was leaving WWF to join the WCW & Vince was afraid that Bret would take the title with him over to WCW.Even tho Bret didn't submit to HBK's Sharpshooter it was Vince who called for the ref to ring the bell & make it look like Bret had tapped out.That made sure the title stayed in the WWF.

1997 survivo series i believe it was, shawn michaels had put bret hart in the sharp shooter and vince ended the match on account of gaining the hatred of all the wrestling fans around the world, and i say that because i truly believe that is when the mr. mcmahon character was born
