Yes tattoos are more socially accepted in today society.....It is an expression of ones self.....I personally know lotz of people with lotz of tattoos.....they weren't molested, abused, mistreated or any other misguided notion of why wanted a tattoo.....they just like them....My children and their spouses for example.....they feel that each tattoo has a purpose....or meaning if you will.....they have their kids names etc....

I think that generally tattoos are socially acceptable.

I personally have 2. One is a string of flowers on my lower spine that was not custom made. The other is something I had designed just for me, it is a picture of Italy with the colors of the Italian flag and a phrase my Nona always used to say.

I get far more compliments on my heritage tattoo and it is a great conversation piece. I'm proud of it and I have heard few negative comments on it. Whereas, I have gotten less postive feedback about the flowers.

Don't get me wrong, I love them both, but I think people can tell when you got a tattoo just because vs. when you got a tattoo that means a lot.

Tattoos are socially acceptable as being a testament to non-conformity, in my opinion. I have a half sleeve, a dragon on my back and some tribal on my stomach. I show them wherever and whenever. Doesn't matter if i'm at a dive or a five-star restaraunt. People who get tattoos are not the type of people who really care too much about what society thinks of them. My friends, family and associates all respect me and see my tattoos as a reflection of my personality - a free spirit.

I take pride in that.

Whoever doesn't like it, I probably wouldn't have much in common with anyway so no harm done.

I'm gald this queation came up I was thinking about it last night .
I think that people that have tatos might as well walk around with a sign over thier heads saying I have been physically , emotional;ly and sexually abused take your pick one or all three .And I wish to perpetuate this will you come and punish me . Surely the act of getting a tatoo is masochistic ?
And as for women having Tatoos its rather butch and the types that have it done it is a real lower class thing isnt it ?
Sorry I typed this in before I read the last bit of your question , but I think it is an honest answer , so i wont censor it

Personally, I dislike tattoos.
That being said, I think that having tattoos is more socially acceptable than in the past.

All in all, in nowadays I think it depends on the tattoo itself. We are way past the old days where only "criminals or immoral" people got tattoos.

I think its ok... but as long as it does not make people think you are not a believer of our (holy) God.
