Depends on the Lutheran. And the Synod, hah! Lutherans are humans and have faults, I personally wish my own Synod would focus more reaching out to the community and welcoming those who need to hear His message of hope and less time arguing about whether or not contemporary is still God's Word, which hymnal to use, who we can pray with, etc. It amazes me how as Christians we can lose sight of what really matters. I personally don't think God gives a crap if your prayer follows specific doctrine.

Personally, I think Lutherans Rock! Probably because I am one. I attend a small Confessional Lutheran church and I like the fact that they aren't trying to be like everyone else. If I wanted to be like a Baptist (just for example) I would attend a Baptists church not a Lutheran church, my parents were driven from their church because the Minister and certain elements wanted to grow and build the church to be the next Willow Creek Community Church. Our city has plenty of mega churches that you can attend, why high jack a church to do the same thing?
What really matters to me as a Lutheran is the Preaching of God's Word, administration of the Sacraments and adherence to the Lutheran Confessions. Everything else is just gravy.

I grew up Lutheran. I don't currently go to church, so I can't comment on my local church. I feel like Lutherans are more laid back. I always felt like people would push their religion on me when I would visit other churches. I never saw that in the Lutheran community.

I also grew up lutheran and agree about them being more laid back, they are also a little more adaptable to socitial changes, I go to the local luthern church about once a month and find them very good, they are very accepting of everyone and ,still pretty informal, their services are not so ritual based ,pretty contemporary, and the sermons are not just a lesson in biblical history, the sermons focus on how to take the message and apply it to your everyday life.

I am Lutheran as well and I have respect for the church...and the religion..Our church was "old fashioned" for years due to the continuous Pastor that reigned over us,but with his death brought new blood into the pulpit and new visions and ways evolved eventually, making it much more laid back and not so rigid..the only thing I don't care for is so much kneeling and standing..is that really necessary?=)

I was raised Lutheran & the minute I could, I stopped going. Not a big fan of being preached to by a hypocrite. I follow my own path now - and am a much better person because of it. ~♥~

Same as any religious cult, to each their own, but I wisely choose not to participate in a belief system that's based upon speculation, hearsay, dreams, nightmares, fairy tails, hallucinations, propaganda, and downright inhumane control of people by utilizing fear, guilt, and totally unnecessary sacrifices, thus I pride myself by following my guidelines of which are, "RESPECT all life, so long as said life respects you" and by simply utilizing facts and logic to the best of my capabilities.
