The underground music scene changes all the time, America is as rich and diverse as the UK. I would say infact I have been more inclined towards American artists over the last few years because of their experimentation and diversity especially in the areas of punk / hardcore / ska etc..

It depends what you mean of course; Pop music (MTV etc..) is governed by very wealthy and very powerful record producers that dictate how and when music changes, if it's not in their interest to change, it won't.

It all depends therefore what you are listening to, if you think MTV is all there is, go and find a good gig venue and discover real musicians.

Only if you listen to popular music, the underground scene is
changing constantly as it is in the UK.Music never stands still
for long, as some artists will continue to push the boundaries
and experiment with new sounds.

The arctics are great, but they have taken plenty of ideas from
other musicians cos to be truly unique is almost impossible!

Don't really know what the scene is over there - though there are some good bands out at the moment from the US (like Arcade Fire) - but I agree with you - it seems very far behind and unoriginal. British music always been better than American.

Yes I would very much so, the American music scene went along with Motown many years ago.
