21,because even at 18 some people are not mature enough to handle the effects of alcohol, resulting in fights, unwanted pregnancies and sometimes death, mind you some are not mature enough at 21.

My personal view is that it is irrelevant what age you set for drinking alcohol. I started drinking at 13, ended up virtually a alcoholic at 23 and managed to beat my addiction when i was 30, until a year ago i could drink in moderation and now 40 years later due to illness and medication i am not allowed any alcohol at all.
The age could have been 21 or any age as far as i was concerned because i looked older than my age.
I think it would be better if they educated children and young people about the advantages and disadvantages of alcohol and the effects of abuse.
As the late Dr Magnus Pyke once stated on british television,
"Everything is good for you in moderation and bad for you in excess."

At home from 8-12, depending on the maturity of the kid
16 for drinking in restaurants/clubs/bars (unless the venue is for 18+ only).
I think if the age is lowered, people are less likely to drink irresponsibly (Japan's age of sexual consent is 11/12 and they usually wait until 17).

18 because 1) That's the drinking age in like every other country except the U.S. and 2) It used to be legal in the U.S. until some dumbass went and ruined it for everybody. And why 21? Why not make it 20 and be done with it?
