Stop being religious, and start being intelligent. If the moon was ever split in half, it is inconceivable that it was sliced perfectly in half, then came back. It would not be a weld, it would be a crack. Also, The moon simply could not spilt perfectly. Perhaps you are mixing it up with Miranda, which seems to have shattered and come back together. It is almost impossible to spilt somthing into 2 pieces that perfectly. The moon is not welded.

The modern theory is that the Moon was created by a massive impact with the Earth nearly 4.5 billion years ago. During this early time the Earth was still growing, as were other smaller planetary bodies (called planetesimals). One of these, probably about the size of Mars, struck a glancing blow on the Earth. The impact knocked a sizable chunk of material off the Earth and into orbit. The resulting orbiting debris of terrestrial and asteroid material ended up forming our moon.

I think the explanation lies in the fact that 1400 years ago they used to cook up an extremely potent alcoholic drink from pig dung . Because of the ingredients , it didn`t take many drinks before one was seeing double , triple and quadruple !
Some back then swore they saw the moon break up into 3 and 4 pieces .

Gee, you think that someone would have mentioned that in a book somewhere, or a tapestry. Or did it just appear in two places in an instant, and then come back together instantly?
Why would something that splits get back together? The orbits of each piece, unless they were exactly the same size, and travelling at the same speed, would be different; they would never meet again.
I'm sorry, this is mind-numbingly stupid.
I think my IQ just dropped two points just thinking about it.

it is NOT said...
the ancient Egyptians wrote about the moon more than 5000 years ago! The wisest of the Egyptian gods was Thoth (Djhuty, Djehuty, Tehuty), the baboon and ibis god of the moon.
If there were two moons, they would have had two gods, that is how it worked.

That is the silliest thing I ever heard. Just mythology...absolutely no foundation for this story.
