for refusing to urge a "white" commissioner to attend the game of another "black" player breaking aaron's record?
is Bud Selig trying to keep a "black" man down, one who grew up w/ an underprivileged childhood, having to struggle to fight his way out of the hood to survive?
what are YOUR thoughts?

a little insight on my methodology ...
see site below.
although most of you handled the question quite well. i was seeing how many close-minded Bonds supporters would defend their hero so that they can sell his rookie card one day. i truly don't think that they actually like the actual person Barry Bonds, cuz most have never met him. they just like him because it gives him (and them, and the Giants ... and i guess baseball) an identity right now.

One: Everyone on this planet has a certain degree of racism within themselves. Anyone who denies it is a liar. We are all products of our individual environment.
Two: Aaron has made it public that he has no intention of following Barry "Steroid" all over the country waiting for him to pass 755 home runs. With that said he doesn't have the right to criticize Bud Selig for not attending the "big event".
No body is "trying to keep a black man down", because 99% of the people could give a crap about the "black man". Most people look at him as a JERK!
Three: If you're talking about Barry Bonds coming from an underprivileged childhood you better do your home work. Bonds was born into a very wealthy family and never had to live the "black experience". Except for the color of his skin, Bonds has nothing in common with other blacks.

why should hank aaron have to urge the commissioner to attend the game. I dont think Aaron is a racist but if he is don't you think he has every right to be, after everything he went through. And I know the "black" man you are talking about w/an underprivileged childhood is not barry bonds???? his was anything but underprivileged and Im sure he didnt have to fight his way out of the hood. His dad was Bobby Bonds of the Giants and his godfather is Willie Mays??? I dont think he is too underprivileged.

I think Henry carries around a certain amount of bitterness from the racism he endured as a kid growing up in the 40s and 50s. He is old enough to have actually played on a ***** league team based in Indianapolis. I cant really blame him much for being bitter, he also had to deal with racial harassment in his pursuit of Ruth's record. And from what I gathered, he wasn't too warmly received at first by some fans when the Braves moved from Milwaukee to the south (Atlanta) in '66. As far as Selig wanting to keep anyone down? Naaaaah. Hes too much of a left wing liberal to ever do that. If he has a beef with Barry, most likely its something personal.

I don't think so at all. Even as a player he was a very quite leader. I do not think he wants to get inovolved in the controversy of the record breaking event by Bonds. and the media has made this a very strnage story of Aarons vs Bonds. It should be the record and the next player taking the torch to the next level.

What a moronic question! He's already answered why he is not going to be there. Why does he have to be there does it matter what color skin the guy has? No he wasn't planning on attending never was. He will congratulate Bonds when he does it but he knows his record is going to be broken so whats the point of being there? You're an idiot for asking this ridiculous question.

Why would he urge someone to do something he has refused to do himself?
If there is someone in this world (other than Nelson Mandela) who has a right to have racist feelings, it's Hank Aaron. He received death threats while he was chasing the record of Babe Ruth because he was black.
Hank Aaron is prejudiced against players who cheat. Race has nothing to do with it. He is also intelligent for not attending because he would be continuously questioned about what he believes about Barroid using steroids and HGH. This way he gets to keep his beliefs to himself.

This is ridiculous.
1st, Barry was anything but underprivileged. The stories of his father's tirades when he was in college include him driving his MERCEDES onto the field to yell at the coach.
2nd, Hank was a pioneer who actually dealt with death threats and hatred because he was a black man breaking a white mans record. Hank Aaron is absolutely not racist, he has been a victim of racism, not purveyor of it.
It is a shame that Barry is going to break Hank's record, but don't expect Hank to be a cheerleader for Barry when so much of the circumstantial evidence is that Barry has artifically elevated his abilites to break the record.

Aaron might be racist, you never really know. Just put into consideration that he grew up in a time where racism was all over him in the streets, and on the field. Who knows what kind of things he had to deal with in the clubhouse and dugouts during the games with all his white teammates. racism is still around and maybe Aaron is one of those people who support it. You never know unless you know

Hank Aaron is NO racist!! He just does not want to be associated with the king of steroids. AND the commissioner can make up his own mind as to what he wants to do. It is NOT Hank Aaron's job to tell him or advise him.
