The volume of a cube is given by V = s3. Find the length of a side of a cube if the Volume is 729 cm3. It would be three times it's self.

The formula for the Volume of a cube = s * s * s
= s^3

which means that when V = 729
729 = s^3
s = (cube root) 729
= 9 cm

729 cm^3 = s^3

Take the cube root of both sides

cuberoot 729 = cuberoot s
9 = s

s = 9 cm

9 is correct.

Oh and by the way...the correct word is "its", not "it's". The only time you should use the contraction is when you mean "it is".

The "s" in "it's" is short for "his"
