Check the moon pictures taken by Apollo? Which ones, for heaven's sake? Apollo missions took literally THOUSDANDS of pictures of the lunar surface. Unless you can direct us to a specific picture that shows the feature you want to ask about we cannot possibly answer that question in any meaningful way.

The surface of the moon is covered with dust of varying reflectivity. Unless you are more specific, I can't tell you exactly what you're talking about. It could be, as the first answer stated, that it is a crater. Or it could be an lava plain or something else.

It's the place where the moon split in half 1400 years ago (see kamal Q's question, lol).

Seriously, it's probably a crater or just an area of darker colored dust.
