i got a punch on teh side of the nose (he was behind me when he punched me) it moved it and made it crooked. the swelling is mostly gone now(4 days later) if i apply enough pressure on the other side will i be able to straighten it or will i just break it in another way? i had an x-ray the bridge or any surrounding bone isn't broken.

Do not try to forcefully fix it yourself, it will only make it worse. Ice it periodically until the swelling is completely gone then if it is too crooked to live with have it repaired when you save up the dough.

This is often what happens to boxers.

Usually it is the cartilage damage, but due to the professional boxing requirement they have to continue receiving punches till the fight is stopped or over. the result is the flattened croocked nose of the boxers.

Dont try local therapies, it might deshape your nose. It wouldnt be nice to see a young man walking around with a disfigured nose. The girls might shy away?

Its better to see an orthopaediatric, he will give you the right advice after an x-ray examination of the damage

Sounds like the cartilage. The key to whether you fix it or not is how it affects breathing. Also the consider the risk of re-injuring your nose. If the risk is high, hold off.

True story. I knew an athlete who broke his nose his sophmore year. Started having sinus problems. The surgeon said he would fix it after his senior year. During his senior year he broke his nose again and the problem went away.

(However, I'm not advising you asking to get punched again!)

Is the cartilage broken? When all the swelling goes down, it might be straighter, but it will probably take a little while. If it's not straighter then, the cartilage might have been broken. Then you can either live with it or get it fixed.
