The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act protects you from unwanted calls at your workplace, however in most cases you would need to specifically request either verbally or in writing that they not call you at work.
Alternatively, as some other answers have indicated, why not attempt to work with the debt collector to pay your account. The reason the debt collector is calling you at work is most likely because he/she has tried you at home and you have not answered or not responded to messages. A debt collector is no differant than you. They are doing a job for wich they are compensated in part by how much they are able to collect on a monthly basis, so that is why they need to try all possible avenues to reach you. So if you work with them to setup a payment plan, and not ignore calls to your home, I would be surprised if they would ever call you at work again.

Speak to their office & set up a repayment plan - a balance between wha you can afford & what they will accept, so you can get this debt paid of.....if you cant sort this out between you ask for help from a charity that helps with financial problems, in the Uk there is something called the citizens advice bureau.
You do have to see both sides of this - they simply want there money back & you need to sort it sooner rather than later...good luck!

Contact them again and remove your work number as a good contact number. If they still call after you do this, contact their customer service department and tell them that their calls at work qualify as harrassment and that if they continue you will seek legal action against their company.

that creditor is breaking the law and you are entitled to damages under the law...although getting them is another story. you could try looking for a lawyer that specializes in representing debtors---see this group's web site

You get their fax number and fax them a statement to stop calling you at work and they have to by law.
