Contact the principal at your neighborhood public school an request an assessment for the Gifted Program. By federal law, they are required to provide such services.

Depends on the age...

If your child is approaching middle school age, you need to look for and get him started in a "talent identification program."

In the southeast USA (Florida up to Virginia) there is the Duke TIP program.

This will open the door for your child to get some excellent extra educational experiences - including taking the ACT early without the score being reported when it is time to go to college. It is a special program to determine where your child is at relative to college applicants.

It can be taken as early as the 7th grade (as my son did).

Get a good enough score and your child will be honored at either the state or regional level - it is a BIG deal. My son, a rising 9th grader did this and is already being courted by top 10 universities.

Hope this helps a little.
